All you need to know about attending the 2025 show!

Bedwellty Agricultural Society will be hosing the 2025 show on the ground of Llancaiach Fawr Manor (Postcode: CF46 6ER) on Saturday 16th August. 

Weather – 

  • The weather forecast looks very good for show day, but the show WILL be going ahead no matter what the weather is like on Saturday. We have four water taps on site, one is for animal use only and the other three have been tested on 15/08/2025 and are safe for human drinking water. Please feel free to bring a reusable water bottle with you and stay hydrated by using these taps – they are completely free for you to use! All four taps are located in a line along the hedgerow the manor side of the show ground. The livestock only tap has a sign indicating this one is only for animal use, the other three unmarked taps are the human ones. If you are unsure where they are on show day please ask any of the show staff in hi-vis and someone will show you.
  • There is a separate dog water drinking station and many bowls located around the dog show ring, please make use of these – they are in place for your four legged friends! We also ask that you bring your own dog bowl and water for your journey to and from the show ground.

Time – 

  • Horse class judging will be commencing at 8:45am, Show jumping 10am start & livestock 10am. Horticulture exhibits must be staged before 9.30am for judging at 10am and not be removed from the tent until 4pm.
  • Show ground will be open from 6:30am to accept livestock, all livestock to be on site and penned by 8:30am.

Getting to the show –

  • Llancaiach Fawr Manor is on the B4254 road between Nelson and Gelligaer (about 2 ½ miles from the A470).
    From M4 motorway leave at junction 32 and follow the A470 towards Merthyr Tydfil. After approximately 12 miles turn right at the roundabout signposted A472 Ystrad Mynach and follow the brown historic building signs through Nelson village.
    From A465 Heads of the Valley road turn onto the A470 towards Cardiff, follow this road past Merthyr Tydfil and turn left at the roundabout signposted A472 Ystrad Mynach. Follow the brown historic building signs through Nelson village.
Please remember however that GFH Socials Hunt Scurry & Gelligaer Sheep Shearing Society Speed Shear will be commencing at 4pm (Hunt Scurry) & 4:30pm Speed shear expected to go on into the evening (Cash only bar until 10pm).

Admission Prices & Parking – 

  • Adults: £10.00
  • Children (under 16): £5.00
  • Children (under 11): Free
  • Family Ticket: Two adults and three children: £25.00

Car parking is free.

Disabled car parking is available, a blue badge must be displayed.

Section closing dates –

  • Dog Show: Entries accepted on the day – first class commences at 12.30, with all others to follow. No need to enter prior to the day as entries are taken outside the show ring from 11:30am, priced at £1 per class. (You must pay gate admission cost even if entering).
  • Horticulture, Equine & Livestock: We will NOT be accepting entries on the day for any of these sections.
  • Unfortunately there is no Poultry or Rabbit Section at the 2025 show.

EQUESTRIANS:

  • We will be hosting show jumping classes at the show this year (and we have a lovely brand new set of jumps which arrived this week for it!), jumping will commencing at 10am. Hunt scurry back for a second year from 4pm! Details further down this page. Both jumping and scurry are pre entry, no entry on the day accepted.

Bringing your four legged companion with with you –

  • Dogs are welcome at our show, however they must be kept on a lead and under control at all times and they will be unable to go in the tents (horticulture, children’s craft). We have a family dog show taking place at our show from 11:30am which dog owners may be interested in. Dog drinking stations in situ around the dog show ring.

Special Addition for 2025 show –

  • Speed Shear

Following it’s popularity a speed shear taking place on the show ground for the third year following our show hosted by Gelligaer Speed Shearing Society. Entries taken from 3:30pm with shearing commencing at 4:30pm. There will be a cash bar in the shearing tent.

  • GFS Hunt Scurry

For the second time at Bedwellty we have a hunt scurry relay commencing at 4pm, and all team spaces are booked! GFS Socials

  • Manor Closed

Our 2025 show is hosted on the show ground of Llancaiach Fawr Manor  although we have gained permission to go ahead with out show by permission of Caerphilly Country Borough Council, unfortunately the manor house is still closed to the public is closure at the end of last year. The society hopes the historical house will re-open in the future.

Dog Show 2025

Our fun dog show perfect for all the family will be returning to Bedwellty Agricultural Show 2025 by popular demand!

Fun Dog Show Classes –

  5. Best Rescue
  6. Dog Most Like Its Owner
  7. Best Fancy Dress (costume contest)

  12. Junior Handler (for kids showing dogs)

No need to pre register, entries accepted on the day outside the show ring prior to the class taking place (Cash only please, there is no card machine available for this section).

Class start time 11:30am, £1 per dog to enter each class. Prizes for 1st – 3rd place in each class. Best in show trophy. Family friendly event, all breeds welcome!

Please note you must pay general admission into the show as normal, even if you plan to enter the dog show.

 

All you need to know about attending the 2024 show!

Bedwellty Agricultural Society will be hosing the 2024 show on the ground of Llancaiach Fawr Manor (Postcode: CF46 6ER) on Saturday 17th August with judging commencing at 9am.

Weather – 

  • The weather forecast looks very good for show day, but the show WILL be going ahead no matter what the weather is like on Saturday.

Time – 

  • We are open to the public from 9am, horse class judging will be commencing at 9am & livestock. Horticulture exhibits must be staged before 9.30am for judging to commence at 10am (the tent will be closed for judging between 10am-12pm).

Getting to the show –

  • Llancaiach Fawr Manor is on the B4254 road between Nelson and Gelligaer (about 2 ½ miles from the A470).

Leaving Blackwood bus station at 11am on Saturday there will be a 50 seater vintage bus to give people a free bus ride to our show at Llancaiach Fawr Manor on a first come, first serve basis. This will be a vintage bus with our flyers advertising the show in the windows.
The bus will depart the show ground later in the day back to Blackwood bus station, between 4.30pm – 5:30pm (time depending on interest).
Please remember however that GFH Socials Hunt Scurry & Gelligaer Sheep Shearing Society Speed Shear will both be commencing at 4pm & expected to go on into the evening (bar until 10pm) so if you would like to stay for the scurry & shear the bus won’t coordinate with these extra events.

  • GFS Hunt Scurry

For the first time at Bedwellty we have a hunt scurry relay commencing at 4pm. Here is what GFS Socials had to say about their first event with us –

This Saturday at 4pm Bedwellty Agricultural Show will have their first Team Relay Scurry in the main ring.
With a first prize of £100.
Currently we’ve got 3 teams entered but we’ve got space for one more.
This will be running on Saturday so for your chance to take part please get in touch with your team details.
This is a fun, low level scurry. If you can jump a 80cm round you’ll be fine. No bridge, all show jumps.
Get your team name down now for that chance of £100!
  • Manor Entry

Our hosts Llancaiach Fawr Manor will have a copy of the consultation form to sign available behind their front desk on show day relating to their future, there will also be someone from Friends of Llancaiach Fawr Manor   on the show ground with a copy of this and a petition, please support them by takign the time to fill out the form and leave them a signature.

Horticulture Closing Date fast approaching

For those late night florists, crafters & bakers you have until 11.59pm tonight (14/08/240 to email your entries in to the horticulture section (including children’s craft)! With the weather set to be wet tomorrow why not enter tonight & spend tomorrow in the house crafting with the children to pass the time?! It’s free to enter this section, just pay the normal gate entrance fee into the show! 😀
