Bedwellty Agricultural Society will be hosing the 2025 show on the ground of Llancaiach Fawr Manor (Postcode: CF46 6ER) on Saturday 16th August.
Weather –
- The weather forecast looks very good for show day, but the show WILL be going ahead no matter what the weather is like on Saturday. We have four water taps on site, one is for animal use only and the other three have been tested on 15/08/2025 and are safe for human drinking water. Please feel free to bring a reusable water bottle with you and stay hydrated by using these taps – they are completely free for you to use! All four taps are located in a line along the hedgerow the manor side of the show ground. The livestock only tap has a sign indicating this one is only for animal use, the other three unmarked taps are the human ones. If you are unsure where they are on show day please ask any of the show staff in hi-vis and someone will show you.
- There is a separate dog water drinking station and many bowls located around the dog show ring, please make use of these – they are in place for your four legged friends! We also ask that you bring your own dog bowl and water for your journey to and from the show ground.
Time –
- Horse class judging will be commencing at 8:45am, Show jumping 10am start & livestock 10am. Horticulture exhibits must be staged before 9.30am for judging at 10am and not be removed from the tent until 4pm.
- Show ground will be open from 6:30am to accept livestock, all livestock to be on site and penned by 8:30am.
Getting to the show –
- Llancaiach Fawr Manor is on the B4254 road between Nelson and Gelligaer (about 2 ½ miles from the A470).
From M4 motorway leave at junction 32 and follow the A470 towards Merthyr Tydfil. After approximately 12 miles turn right at the roundabout signposted A472 Ystrad Mynach and follow the brown historic building signs through Nelson village.
From A465 Heads of the Valley road turn onto the A470 towards Cardiff, follow this road past Merthyr Tydfil and turn left at the roundabout signposted A472 Ystrad Mynach. Follow the brown historic building signs through Nelson village.

Gelligaer Sheep Shearing Society Speed Shear will be commencing at 4pm (Hunt Scurry) & 4:30pm Speed shear expected to go on into the evening (Cash only bar until 10pm).
Admission Prices & Parking –
- Adults: £10.00
- Children (under 16): £5.00
- Children (under 11): Free
- Family Ticket: Two adults and three children: £25.00

The majority of the Bedwellty team are helping prepare the show ground for show day, because of this we cannot guarantee we will be able to answer emails/texts/whatsapps/telephone calls this close to the show, although we will always try! If you do need to speak to us, a telephone call is the preferred option.

Section closing dates –
- Dog Show: Entries accepted on the day – first class commences at 12.30, with all others to follow. No need to enter prior to the day as entries are taken outside the show ring from 11:30am, priced at £1 per class. (You must pay gate admission cost even if entering).
- Horticulture, Equine & Livestock: We will NOT be accepting entries on the day for any of these sections.
- Unfortunately there is no Poultry or Rabbit Section at the 2025 show.

EQUESTRIANS:
- We will be hosting show jumping classes at the show this year (and we have a lovely brand new set of jumps which arrived this week for it!), jumping will commencing at 10am. Hunt scurry back for a second year from 4pm! Details further down this page. Both jumping and scurry are pre entry, no entry on the day accepted.
Bringing your four legged companion with with you –
- Dogs are welcome at our show, however they must be kept on a lead and under control at all times and they will be unable to go in the tents (horticulture, children’s craft). We have a family dog show taking place at our show from 11:30am which dog owners may be interested in. Dog drinking stations in situ around the dog show ring.

Special Addition for 2025 show –
Following it’s popularity a speed shear taking place on the show ground for the third year following our show hosted by Gelligaer Speed Shearing Society. Entries taken from 3:30pm with shearing commencing at 4:30pm. There will be a cash bar in the shearing tent.
For the second time at Bedwellty we have a hunt scurry relay commencing at 4pm, and all team spaces are booked! GFS Socials
Our 2025 show is hosted on the show ground of Llancaiach Fawr Manor although we have gained permission to go ahead with out show by permission of Caerphilly Country Borough Council, unfortunately the manor house is still closed to the public is closure at the end of last year. The society hopes the historical house will re-open in the future.
